Her fathers family were pre-war and some family were post-war Jewish immigrants from Germany and they eventually settled in Greensburg, Decatur County, Indiana.

Her mother, Margarett was of German descent, although we are not sure if she was Jewish. She was from Decatur County, Indiana.

Elodia's father George moved the family to Indianapolis, Indiana in the 20`s. He worked with the Budwisser Clydsdales and then at the Van Camp canning factory in Indianapolis as well as cleaning a church.
